Bushy Park’s commitment increased for BCIC RB26
Bushy Park’s key role in the staging of the region’s biggest annual motor sport event, BCIC Rally Barbados, has been further expanded for 2026. For the first time it will host the Central Service Park for the entire event, from the opening Friday night floodlit SuperSpecial to the Sunday afternoon finish.
The St Philip facility will already have been a hive of activity for a couple of weeks ahead of BCIC RB26 itself, which runs from Friday to Sunday, May 29-31, with the Event Administration based at the venue for a month around the competition and ‘Rally Central’ home to nearly 50 overseas entrants and their cars.
BCIC RB26 Event Director Neil Barnard said: “Bushy Park is the very best choice to concentrate a number of events and activities for the rally this year. It’s going to be an efficient, accessible base for competitors and organisers and we think spectators are also going to enjoy what we have planned. It ticks a lot of boxes and the team at BP are fantastic to work with."
The Auto & Rally Show on Saturday, May 23, will give island fans their only chance to see every one of the record number of 125 cars expected to start the Barbados Rally Club’s (BRC) premier event gathered in one place and mix and mingle with their crews. Now in its fifth year at Bushy Park, this popular family attraction also features live interviews with rally personalities, test drives on the circuit with local importers, food and beverage booths to suit all tastes and a Kids Area to keep the little ones entertained.
This is the 10th year that the Bushy Park Pits have been used as Rally Central, the secure storage and service facility which accommodates most of the international and regional competitors. Thanks to a 50 per cent increase in the total number of cars to be housed for BCIC RB25, additional tentage was erected in the pit lane to create sufficient covered workspace, which will be necessary again this year.
Following a change in regulations to reduce congestion and safety concerns caused by support vehicles following competition cars on the rally route, servicing will only be permitted in the Central Service Park this year, although driver and co-driver will be allowed to work on their car, using tools or spares (tyres, for instance) carried with them. The Service Park will be spread across the Pits and the Quarry.
Housed in the Club Members Lounge above the Pit Lane is the Rally Office, where competitors, officials and the media sign on and collect their passes and documentation. Scrutineering will take place to a pre-arranged schedule in the days running up to First Citizens King of the Hill (Sunday, May 24), while the Media Briefing will be held in the Open-Air Suites well ahead of the event on Friday, May 8.
BCIC Rally Barbados (May 29-31, 2026) is a tarmac rally with around 20 special stages run on the island’s intricate network of public roads, under road closure orders granted by the Ministry of Transport, Works & Water Resources; King of the Hill (May 24), run under a similar arrangement, features four timed runs on a roughly four-kilometre stage, with the results used to seed the running order for the main event.
